Mr. Alan Chau, General Manager and Home Care Manager 周兆麟先生 (總幹事及家居護理服務經理)
Alan Chau has been General Manager and Home Care Manager of the Chinese Association of Tower Hamlets since 1996, during which time he has led the continuous development of the organisation which now employs over 40 staff and delivers 5 services to over 200 service users each week. In 2004, Alan qualified as a Social Worker and successfully completed his two years’ placement at the Tower Hamlets’ Youth Offending Team and Rethink’s Mental Health Rehabilitation Centre. Alan came to the UK 30 years ago and completed his Master Degree in Operational Research and Information Systems at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He also holds a Registered Manager Award in Health and Social Care. Alan has worked in older people welfare over the past 20 years. He began his career working with long-term unemployed and disadvantaged people and has maintained an interest in the users of public services and the importance of working closely with the voluntary sector. Alan is dedicated to providing on-going leadership to improve the health and well-being of older and disabled people in the Chinese community of East London. Alan has led the Chinese Association of Tower Hamlets to achieve the Advice Quality Mark since 2006, and three Star ‘Excellent’ rating for Domiciliary Care Service since 2008. Alan works to bring about service change for people so everyone can be treated with respect and courtesy, getting services which support people to live more independent lives and to achieve their potential.
Ms. Wendy Cheung, Quality Assurance Manager 張韻賢小姐(質量保証經理)
Born and bred in London, fluent in English and Cantonese, Wendy has a proven track record of representing others. Prior to joining the Association Wendy acted as a trade union representative in the entertainment industry and General Advisor for a charity in Tower Hamlets, achieving great landmarks and breakthroughs for her colleagues and clients in the process.
Wendy gained her NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance in 2004. During her role as a General Advisor working within the community is where she found her bond and passion within Welfare Rights.
Wendy is currently the Quality Assurance manager, making sure that policies and procedures are implemented correctly and dealing with personal or challenging situations our clients may face.
Miss. Maggie Tsui, Head of Chinese School and Administrator 崔頌欣小姐(中文學校校長及行政員)
Maggie has been working as an Administrator in the public education sector for the last 8 years. She has experience providing administrative support to the Deputy Headteacher in charge of assessments at Lister Community School and Manager of Registry Services at Newham College of Further Education, both front line and back office. Maggie also taught Cantonese (Chinese) to young people between the ages of 4 to 18 at Chinese Independent School of Tower Hamlets (CISTH) for 10 years before being promoted as Headteacher in August 2013. During her teaching career at CISTH she also provided administrative support to the School Governor, including event management and updating school website.
Ms. Joyce Lee, Luncheon Club Co-ordinator and Home Care Manager’s Assistant 李小鳳女士 (午餐會主管及助理)
Joyce has more than 15 years of experience working with older people in the Chinese Communities across London, and is currently the Luncheon Club Co-ordinator of the Association. Joyce is well known and highly respected in the Chinese Community in East London. She has considerable experience of planning and facilitating events to raise community funding. With a good grounding in working with disadvantaged people, she has a strong sense of equality and diversity with a warm, sensitive and empathetic character.
